Farmhouse extension and re-modelling, Norfolk
The old farmhouse had not had much love over the years and as a result the whole house had to be pretty much gutted. The fire places and first floor joists/beams remain, but the rest of the house has been modernised with a new layout, internal wall insulation, new windows and new flooring. Norfolk Pamments found in the ground floor have been re-purposed as fireplace hearths and as window cills.
The client brief was to add an extension to create extra space for a new kitchen with bedroom and bathroom above, whilst reconfiguring the internal layout and moving the staircase. All of this was achieved and now the house has a better flow and new openings have also let in more light.
Stuart had already helped us revise the layout of our existing house , where he used his design and building knowledge to re-configure our ground floor layout to transform our small kitchen dining area. So we knew when we wanted to do the same with our new property he would be ideal to present us with fresh ideas. He did so in a way that made sense to us and gave reasoning for the proposed layouts.
