Farm Barn to commercial rental units
This is my own project to convert agricultural barns into commercial rental units. Between The submission of the planning application and completion of the conversion it took 5 months; with the construction work being completed in just 2 months.
Stage 1 – Planning permission – I obtained planning permission for the barns to commercial units, drawing all the plans and arranging tree, ecology and structural surveys and showing the impact on Biodiversity Net Gain.
Stage 2 – Grant application – I compiled a grant application for 50% funding from North Norfolk for the conversion of the barn under a rural diversification grant. This included detailed grant application/paperwork, a business plan, cash flow forecast and 3 quotations from builders.
Stage 3 – Building regulations – I put together a Building regulations application including detailed construction drawings and structural details.
Stage 4 – Project management – Planning was approved 17th October 2024, grant funding was approved 1st November and construction started on 2nd November 2024.
Due to a grant funding completion date of 31st December 2024 the contractor only had 2 months to complete the conversion. I project managed the conversion and with the help of all the contractors it was completed by 31st December 2024
