Dairy Barn conversion architecture side view in East Sussex

Dairy barn conversion, East Sussex

This project involved the change of use from a former dairy barn to a new 5 bedroom dwelling (Class C3) . I obtained planning permission for this conversion , rather than using up the clients Class Q permitted development allocation , as they wanted to use it on another project. I also managed the building regulations application, putting together a set of detailed construction plans , arranged for the structural and SAP calculations.

My client wanted to maximise the bedroom space within the barn , with a view to renting it out as a holiday let . New oak trusses were also made to add character to the vaulted roof space in the kitchen/dining area , whilst large glazed openings were created on the Western elevation to afford views over the surrounding farmland.

Stuart provided insight and knowledge at the very beginning with considerable input into the Design and Access statement. We achieved the planning permission through a relatively straightforward process in regards to the location and design. Stuart is at pains to listen to us and has then produced drawings to not only meet our needs but also providing additional advice either in the actual style and design or from a construction perspective.
